Why is there a two-night minimum stay?

The only problem our guests have expressed to us when they stay at Spirit Hill is a shortage of time to relax and enjoy themselves. We know today's busy schedules are tight, but a full weekend is the best way to appreciate the feeling of Spirit Hill. That's why the two-night minimum is a firm requirement. Of course, you're welcome to stay longer, if you like.

Does one rate cover all six guests?

Yes! When you rent Spirit Hill, you have sole access to the entire first floor of the house. You may be one person needing a quiet writing, painting or bird-watching retreat, three couples enjoying Hermann's Octoberfest, a family group in town for a wedding, or a group of women here for a pampering weekend. The rate is the same for one to six guests.

Do I have to get up early for breakfast?

Not at all. Spirit Hill is for relaxing at your own pace, so we leave breakfast up to you. Coffee and tea supplies are provided in the kitchen, plus biscotti to get your day off to a good start. There's even an instant hot water faucet for extra-quick beverage preparations. Bring groceries and prepare a gourmet feast in the new kitchen, if you like, or take it easy and visit a local restaurant.

Is there a barbecue grill?

There's a gas grill on the deck for your convenience.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring your luggage as you would for a hotel visit. All sheets and towels are provided, as are coffee and tea supplies. You're welcome to use the kitchen as much as you like. Just bring along any groceries you plan to use, or pick them up at one of three grocery stores in Hermann. You'll find miscellaneous condiments in the kitchen, so you don't need to worry about remembering salt, olive oil, herbs and spices, etc.

How do I reach the outside world?

Spirit Hill has no landline phone. AT&T cell phone service works best, although other carriers also have service. The living room includes access to radio and cable television.

Will I meet the hosts?

Your hosts, Gary and Marsha, are in residence in the lower level quarters during your stay. We'll be around to greet you as you arrive, and also to answer any questions you may have during your stay. We'll be glad to direct you to restaurants, groceries, wineries, and any local activities. But you have exclusive access to the entire main floor of the house, so you can relax and enjoy yourselves without worrying about getting up in time for breakfast or getting out of the house so someone can make the beds.
